1. Home Alone Came Out in 1990 and left Theaters Summer of 91
Home Alone was so popular that it had 12 weeks at the number one spot at the box office. The move was doing so well that it pretty much never left theaters. It came out in November of 1990 and didn’t leave theaters till about June of 1991. After all those months in theaters Home along made $533,000,000 internationally, landing it in the Guinness Book of World Records as the “Highest Box Office Gross – Comedy.”

2. Joe Pesci would forget he was in a family comedy
Joe Pesci kept dropping the F-bomb on the set of Home Alone, but would you expect anything less from him? After a few F-bomb incidents the director told him to substitute it with the word fridge.

Daniel Stern actually stepped on the nail, luckily for him it was planned out and he was wearing rubber feet when it happened. Looks pretty good for rubber feet right?

5. Home Alone is a National Treasure in Poland
No Nic Cage won’t be trying to steal this National Treasure, but Poland pretty much worships this movie. Home Alone became one of the first western films shown in the country and it has aired on national TV every year since 1990.

6. John Candy’s Role was Filmed in 23 hours
John Candy filmed his role for the movie in a continues 23 hour day. Obviously he wasn’t working hard enough he didn’t make it to the 24th hour. He completely improvised the story about forgetting his son at a funeral home

7. Buzz’s Girlfriend was the Art Director’s Son
The director thought it was too cruel to make fun of a teenage girl the way they did in the movie. But they had no problem dressing the art director’s son like a girl and taking some photos.

8. Home Alone originated from just one scene from Uncle Buck
It all spawned from Macaulay Culkin interrogating the baby sitter through the mail slot. The scene gets recreated in Home Alone, except this time with Culkin uses Daniel Stern’s face for target practice.

9. Kevin McCallister was Written For Macaulay Culkin
Even though Chris Columbus knew that role was written for Macaulay Culkin he had over 100 kids audition for the role just to be sure he was getting the right person for the part.

10. Spider to the face!
Daniel Stern didn’t actually scream during this scene. They didn’t have him scream because that would frightened the spider. He also only let them do one take of this and then later dub his scream for the scene.

12. Buzz’s Epic Stash of goodies
Buzz not only had the firecrackers and air rifle, he also had a copy of the July 1989 Playboy. This issue had Erika Eleniak on the cover, at the time her biggest role was in Charles in Charge. Later she went on to star in Baywatch.
