I hope the artist takes the 'pranker' to the police. You cannot harass proffesionals in such a way. The law can take effect here, and the 'pranker' can be imprisoned (happenes in Ireland, and Im pretty sure the rest of the world)

Also, the pictures price is so high because:
1. You have to pay for materials (frame, canvas, paint, brushes - none of which are cheap)
2. It can take many hours to make such a painting.
3. Finding a place to display it also costs time.
4. The place where you display it for sale will take a cut.
5. The picture may be there for months or longer before it is sold.

All in all, most artists get less than minimum wage when you add all the hours together. So dont rip on it for being expensive, because there is a lot more work gone into it than you think.

if you sell a piece of art for more than $50.00 you can call yourself a professional - . little known factoid

Art is up to taste. Some people might like it (I admit I dont), but thats no reason to harass someone like that.
