A photographer was attacked by an elk on the side of a road in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park which straddles North Carolina and Tennessee.

It appears the elk thinks the photographer is a rival for the attention of female elk. Somewhat of a warning, not an attack. More playful and curious than dangerous.
