Probably wasn't because the hair dye was cheap boots is an ok brand. Reactions like that can occur with any dye......i have seen worse, using henna increases the risk.

It's PPD, a chemical often used in black hair color and "black henna." No such thing, really. There's only one kind of henna: red, and the dye expires in a box, so that stuff's altogether fake. Sad thing is, from some of the other reactions I've seen to PPD, some of that scarring will probably be permanent.

they do suggest doing a patch test to make sure you're not allergic to the dye before using it. and this would be why.
