The information is not telling the whole truth.
There are more trees today than in 1955. The text informs of the PRIMARY FORESTS which simply means the trees have never been replaced by man. All other forest, 78% have been replaced with new trees, and even more. So ---->
We now have 121% trees when looking back 60 years. :38:

A tree is not a forest. Forests are intricate, interconnected, layered systems with numerous interdependent species. Tree farms are monocultural fields of trees and nothing else. They are apples to oranges. Or apples to, Minute Maid Apple Drink Cocktail*.
