A balut or balot is a developing duck embryo that is boiled and eaten in the shell. It is commonly sold as streetfood in the Philippines. It's disquieting.

Its like when u boil a cow and then you eat it. Or when you boil a chicken and then you eat it. Or like when you boil a turkey and then you eat it. Or even like when you boil a rabbit and then you eat it. Its only disgusting how its being eaten.

It's an exotic food, I wouldn't eat it, but some people would.
Here in mexico, ant eggs are a very tasty and expensive food and I love it, and I bet most people wouldn't eat it.

Actually a balut can be either fertilized duck egg or chicken egg and they bury them in the ground for 6 months. At least that's the way they made them when I was there.....

Maybe...if i somehow survived an airplane crash and/or was stranded in the wilderness.
There's one dish i keep seeing in Filipino restaurants that looks like some possible kind of stew - that's seemingly marinated in something PINK - like Pepto-Bismol.
Figure if you have to marinate it in Pepto...it can't be good for you.

I'm local a foodie, Balot are just only one of the exotic food here in the Philippines, some are [soup number 5(Cow's P**** and egg)], Fried farm frog, farm rat, snakes and other more.
:73:
We all know in other countries as well they also have exotic food like insects, monkeys, puffer fish, sharks and many more, at least every thing we eat came from some where.
:73:
Balot originally range from 10 ~ 18 days cycle-time that is cook on that day of cycle the bigger the offspring the older the egg was cooked, well yeah it might look disgusting since by the looks of it you ordered a 20 days, eating that kind of balot is extreme its usually eaten by people who are used to eat this as a "[pulutan(snacks for hard drinkers)]" and people who are being dared!!
:04: anyway thanks for having the guts to try it out :21:
