This old asylum area in Michigan was opened in 1885 but closed permanently in 1989. Some recent reconstruction of the buildings has turned it into a hotel, office and shopping centre.

After some of the abandoned and decaying ruins we have seen, old asylums and hospitals just left to rot, this makes a nice change.

Plus in these days of constant redevelopment it's good to see a beautiful old building re-purposed instead of knocked down and replaced with some bland or generic concrete block.
