We treat US prisoners the same way in any Ad-Seg (solitary confinement) prisons except we give them a fair trial rather than incarcerate them without a trial. What right gives the US to treat others like this without trial? :46:

"What right gives the US to treat others like this without trial? "

The fact that they were captured on the battlefield as unlawful enemy combatants. Had they been LAWFUL combatants, i.e., signatories to the Geneva Conventions, fighting in uniform, not targeting civilians, not using civilians as human shields, not beheading prisoners, etc., it would be perfectly legal to hold them as prisoners of war FOR THE DURATION OF HOSTILITIES. Also, if they were legitimate soldiers being held under the Geneva Conventions, it would be ILLEGAL to put them on trial.

So, do you seriously believe that UNLAWFUL ENEMY COMBATANTS, i.e., terrorists, should be afforded MORE rights than legitimate POWs? If so, your one twisted son of a bitch.

And who says they are unlawful enemy combatants? There wasn't any trial to prove that. See my point?

OldOllie,

Too bad the propaganda has got you by the balls. How 'lawful' was it for the US to invade Afghanistan and Iraq? No official trial for Osama bin Laden whatsoever. He wasn't even officially charged with 9/11. Yet the media manipulated you into believing he was behind it all. And then there's Iraq with it's WMD which were never found. Where's the lawfulness in that invasion?

You are what I call a hypocrite who has a hard time thinking for himself, but rambles on about what he's been told to believe by the powers that be. The US wipes it's big fat hamburger eating ass with the Geneva Conventions, human rights and even the UN.

How can you illegally invade two countries based on utter lies and claim that you have every right to treat prisoners like cattle?

Pure insanity. But hey, that's what the world has come to. The worst part is the sheep who are defending the maniacs that run the whole show. Pathetic.

"Honor bound to defend freedom" - As long as that freedom defends US interests.

Freedom for all is an ambiguous concept.

Honestly if you had any idea what theses undesirables in other countries would do to harm innocents and ISAF forces then you would understand why the US government has to pull this crazy shit to stop it from happening. War isn't pretty, there are no white knights, sleep now my child and be safe. Big brother is protecting you.

Johno - There are at least 278 detainees currently in Guantanamo Bay. There are another 50 - 70 that have been 'released' but cannot return to their home countries. Due to legal issues, they remain as 'guests' of this facility. At it's height, there were over 750 prisoners.

Only 4 people have been charged... Their trials have been stalled by the Pentagon's "Military Commissions." The island where this 'secret prison' resides was purchased by the US government, free from international law. This was possible because of rewording an act Bush signed in 2002, essentially stating they were not prisoners of war, but enemy combatants.

The Supreme Court overturned this in 2008 due to a lawsuit (Boumediene vs Bush), stating prisoners of Guantanamo Bay were entitled to fair treatment under the US Constitution, including habeas corpus - The right of a person under arrest to be brought before a judge or be released for unlawful detention. Without exercising habeas corpus, other rights cannot be made available, such as the right to legal representation and a fair trial.

If Guantanamo Bay has done anything, it created enemies by stripping people of their human rights. Booyah, Big Brother.
