So, you take a glowstick, cut it open, expose yourself to all sorts of weird and potentially nasty chemicals along with shards of broken glass. Wow, what a great tutorial.

the disclaimer said that an adult should do this. Wouldnt any adult doing this actually be a bit of a child?

You would be right to be careful. My eldest got given a glowstick in a party bag when he was about four, and while he watched TV he bit the end.
Only about three tiny drops came out, but it burned his tongue on contact. He screamed, I dropped my job and he started trying to wipe his tongue on the towel behind me. I got him to show me what it was and when I saw the droplets on the floor got him to repeatedly flush his mouth with cold water.
I used to work with hazardous goods, so I rang the hospital to check out whether or not it was poisonous. Doctor phoned back within a few minutes to check on my sons condition, and said that there was no hazard listing for them.
It seems the rinsing out prevented any further harm, but you don't want to get that crap on your skin. No listing doesn't mean it won't attack your skin in some way.
Play safe out there!!
