my chef told me this once happened in the company i work, but the new chairs (since 20 years or so) have security dampers so this cant happen. there is a mechanical end stop now that has to be strong enough to take 4 times the energy of the gas damper.
i think this cheap chair was not certified, you should look for a certificate sign not for the chinese made sign.... CE or TV
... i dont know what you have in america....
wtf i cannot write the short of "Technischer UEberprfungs Verband", it always writes "TV"
