I don't mean to be "That Guy" but this has nothing to do with constitutional rights. They were on private property, not a public forum. How would you like it if suddenly 20 spoiled brats sat in your backyard, or blocked the paths to and from your car. You'd probably get pissed too. p.s. Excessive force wouldn't have been necessary if those spoiled brats got the fuck out of the way. Those cops had a job to do, to keep the Campus functioning properly and safely and those kids were in the way. This whole occupying BS is about college tuition going up and banks making more money yada yada yada, don't try to justify your actions after seeing the result. This isn't a righteous act of peace, they were in the fucking way. The pepper spray was the effect of those kids "occupying" an area they shouldn't have been occupying, not the other way around. Cause and effect, learn it. Were these kids protesting because somewhere some poor helpless unarmed person was pepper sprayed? No.

p.p.s. Learn what a public forum is, contact your congressman, and protest without rioting. Is that so much to ask?

The UC Davis campus is public property (the 'C' in UC stands for California, as in paid for by Californios). Secondly, I would get pissed, and if I had the authority, I would forcibly remove them. I would N O T however employ any tactic intended for self-defense. If you find a group of hippies sitting on the ground a threat, then either you have a guilty conscious or you have a weak character.

in austria we say only civil live loosers and people who excessively want to dominate others go to police. if you are too stupid for police, you go into military, if you are too stupid for military, you go into private security.

in all other civiliced western countries the law and the execution of the law are 2 different things. im counting US to the 3rd world countries because of this and because of some other reasons....
