The problem is in the persons wages - $2.65 an hour. The problem is with the country that allows wages like that.
Tips on the other hand should be what the word means- a donation given for exceptionally good service. Not something that one should be expected to give every time someone serves them.

The reason servers only get that little is part of their salary is from their tips. And they are required to claim them as income, for tax purposes.

I'm just wondering if it was put there by someone who left church services Sunday morning to go out to eat...

What bartender, stripper, mechanic, and handyman doesn't claim their income for tax purposes?

Some people have no respect or morals in this world. Just because they follow Jesus doesnt mean they shouldnt be kind to their fellow men. Everyone knows in this economy every little bit helps...

If your thinking so what, its for a video game, well its probably some teenage kid working to make enough money to buy it himself and not rely on his/her parents or maybe the parents cant afford it either.

douchebags that think a tip should be given for ''above and beyond great service'' are idiots. If you go to a restaurant where a human being brings you food to the table , you should automatically expect to leave a tip ..that's the rule.
If by some chance the wait staff is rude , or a mistake was made and they made no effort to fix it, then dont tip but dont be cheap , that extra 5 bucks is not gonna make you rich, but added to the other tips it makes that persons' job worth doing. If you dont believe in tipping, go to McDonalds.Yes I used to be a waiter, so maybe I am biased, the system is designed so the waiters have to depend on tips, their tips are calculated into their income as an integral part of that income, that's why they are paid so little to begin with.

It's about time the restaurants started paying a fair wage so workers don't have to rely on gifts from strangers to support themselves.
