I think their "crime" was failing to attach an orange 'Slow Moving Vehicle' safety triangle to their horse drawn buggies. They say reflective tape is enough and the triangles are too modern for them.

wish there was a "source" link, want to know more
When I lived in Ohio I went to school w/some Amish kids. Before you freak on me I'll explain.
Some Amish communities allow their children @ age 16 to do pretty much what ever they want for two yrs. to see if they really want to commit to the Amish faith.
Cell phones, riding in buses to public schools etc.
Some of the girls would show up at school in their plain dresses and bonnets, go into girls bathroom, and come out as some of the hottest girls in the whole school.
Make-up, tight jeans and sweaters. The works, and they loved all the attention the boys gave them.
