Matthew 14: 22 - 33. If you cared to study the text before thumbing my comment down... Jesus appeared as an apparition, or ghost, over water.
Jesus had already proven he was more than man. What he wanted to prove was the faith of his disciples. When Peter walked on water, his faith briefly wavered and thus sank, only to have Jesus keep him from submerging into the lake.
