astro - I've seen the British flag on top of mini-coopers. Please cite an example where the bastardization of another countries' flag has shown up in fashion.
Colors of said nations don't count. Cambodia, Australia, France, among many others are red, white and blue. Even Olympic uniforms of said nations are only allegories. You may see a hammer and sickle as an emblem on Russian uniforms, but it's the complete flag. A half maple leaf on Team Canada's hockey uniforms is a logo... I don't recall ever seeing a series of yellow stars on a red background on Chinese athletes...
Stars and stripes are clearly representative of the US flag.
