VHS Tapes Your Parents Wouldn’t Let You Rent (32 pics)

I looooove these kinds of movies (mostly 70s and 80s horror/slasher flicks). I've got most of these and some of them are really very good- Hunter's Blood, Communion (which is usually called Alice, Sweet Alice, and is the best American giallo that I've ever seen), Blood Beach is great, Company of Wolves is all creepy European atmosphere and Angela Lansbury gets beheaded so it can't be all that bad, Chopping Mall is great fun, Just Before Dawn has amazing plot twist in it, Basket Case is a classic although I prefer Brain Damage by the same director, Squirm is a good one.

And there are some total stinkers up there- The Incredible Melting Man has some good gooey effects, but he doesn't do much except walk around town and going 'boo' at people, The Demon doesn't have anything resembling a demon in it, even though Phantasm is highly regarded I don't think it makes any sense at all, the only good thing about The Video Dead is the picture on the video box, Oasis of the Zombies is the worst of the Nazi zombie flicks (Shock Waves being the best), and there's plenty of other Alien rip offs that are better than XTRO (like Alien Contamination or Forbidden World or Galaxy of Terror).

it's a good thing your parents didn't let you rent these, my parents DID let me rent these, and... well, honestly... i'm pretty weird.

Drive-in theater stuff, not even B grade, actually D. Nobody watched this crap.

I watched Salems Lot when I was 8. It scared the crap out of me, recently watched it again and fell asleep. I am now in my 30s.

Yep things have moved on, i also watched a couple of these Movies and yes they scared the crap out of me to,
but if you showed these films to the kids of the same age today most probably laugh,
should that be cause for concern

Classic slasher trash. I remember whiling away many boring summer nights watching this kind of crap on late night Cinemax/Showtime during my early teens. I kinda miss that. I still enjoy movies like this every now and then.
