A lot of these are utter bollocks, in fact I would wager that the ones I can't confirm are utter bollocks also.

Apart from "A New Hope" Lucas was able to finance, and subsequently control, all of the other films. For "A New Hope" Lucas requested that he would have all merchandising rights which he got as studios at that point in time didn't care about merchandising. So this makes the "fact" about the Ewoks complete utter bollocks as Lucas did not need the studio to "green light" anything and he already had control of merchandising.

The "Luke, you are your own father" is another falsehood. David Prowse was asked to read "Luke, Obi-Wan was your father" but James Earl Jones was asked to read "Luke, I am your father". Mark Hamill was only told what James would say right before they filmed the scene.

For verification watch the bonus DVD which comes with the first Star Wars trilogy DVD set.

Just goes to show that you can't believe everything you read, see or hear.

As a lifelong Star Wars fan, I feel it is my right to say that George Lucas is and always was a vainglorious asshole who nearly ruined his own franchise from the very beginning, and badly soured it when he made the prequels, because by then, nobody had the balls to tell him how stupid his ideas were.

Tommyfilth - The Simpsons parodied that idea and defined it as "The Homer"... To succeed in spite of yourself.

The movie - "The Accidental Tourist" also explores this concept.
