Ok it's scary that the child was so near the snake but how are we suppose to see it without a close up shot, magnifying glass or even a microscope. I assume that the taker of the photograph either has amazing eyesight or else saw the snake whilst taking the photo! Maybe my eyes aren't as good as they used to be, I'm of for an eye test.

I'm guessing the rattlesnake would have rattled if he was upset. and if he did, the kid probably wouldn't have been there (with adult supervision).
