Excellent ! Pics like these always give me the bumps. Reminds me of the times I was a kid and I was watching in awe Carl Sagan's "Cosmos" series.

Man can but wonder in awe at the infinite varity and beauty of the univers. We are but specks in its vastness and we lack the humility to understand that.

Great shots, but providing the high resolution versions would have been nice.

the one thing i hate about these pics is that the color is added by man. Each color represents a different gas or element....but still.....i wish these colors existed naturally

Sorry Ty, but you are mistaken. I have seen their color myself with my own telescope. NASA, and other science bodies do make composite images to show people the light wavelengths we can't see, but I believe all of the above are just visible light shots. Look at the link I gave above to see 'backyard' shots with the same colors.
A bit of science: A nebula gets its color from the stars in the nebula pumping enough energy into the surrounding gas to excite the atoms of the gas. When the gas is excited it emits a given wavelength of light trying to get back to a more stable state. This is the same process that goes on inside of a Neon light or a gas laser. The colors can be shifted depending on if we are getting closer or further to the item, but that is a discussion for another day.
