Every day fishermen from a small village in Indonesia on the island of Lembata go fishing for whales and sharks using small wooden boats with sticks and long spears. After they harpoon a fish they keep it in the water because they are to heavy for their small boats.

Its looks they are taking more than they need to just survive. A whale shark could provide for them a long time.
