There may be more truth here than it seems, but I doubt it's coming from the U.S.
Somebody in Scandinavia obviously has a hard-on for Assange, Though,we will never really know, since all countries have been put out on the corner of Front and Center streets.

It seems like people want to equate what Assange did with some form of human right to information. There are certain things in government that should be kept secret for a reason, sometimes revealed knowledge can do great damage e.g. revealing to the public possible vulnerabilities to terrorist threat--how is anyone better off by giving terrorists more knowledge. This is not even in the same realm as people being able to share music P2P, or watching t. v. shows online. 13
