"The Autopsy of Jane Doe. I thought this movie was SO scary and was surprised that not more people thought so when I read through all the reviews"
2
"I first viewed Paranormal Activity in the theater alone. It’s the only movie that’s made me scared in my own house after I saw it. I was 29."
3
“Martyrs is the correct answer. Has to be the French one though.”
4
"Sinister. There was just something about it that struck a primal fear chord in me. Watched it in the theater and shut the eyes for a few scenes."
5
"For me it's The Descent"
6
"Ju On: The Grudge. f*ck THAT KID IN THE CLOSET/UNDER THE BLANKET"
7
"[REC]
The original Spanish one is one of the only horror movies that made me fully emerge into it and made me uncomfortable days after. The original Blair Witch project had a similar experience, but not as much as [REC]. Found Footage makes it feel like what you're seeing could be a documentary, making it true."
8
"For me, it's still The Exorcist. It rocked me"
9
“The Human Centipede 2. This sh*t was horrifying. The lengths those people went to to escape this man’s insane torture chamber….”
10
"Skinamarink, by far."
11
"Shutter (the original Thai version). I've always loved horror, a friend showed it to me as a teenager and I literally couldn't finish it, I made her turn it off. It was at least ten years later when I finally forced myself to watch the whole thing. I've watched it a few times since then and it's always been terrifying."
12
"Watching Blair Witch in a theater was pretty frightening."
13
"Event Horizon, hands down best scare I ever had in a movie."
14
"I was 10 years old when the Japanese “The Ring” movie came out. Back then there were bootleg VHS rental shops and I was renting a different movie which I forgot the name of and the clerk accidentally gave me the wrong VHS tape. So I was watching movies by myself late at night and I wasn’t expecting this movie but I thought since I got it, might as well watch it. Wow big mistake. Couldn’t sleep for a week. The fact that I got the video tape by mistake and the movie was about getting a random video tape just added to the unsettling mess of the situation."
15
"The Bababook definitely scared the f**k out of me"
16
"Hereditary was delightfully terrifying."
17
"The Strangers, mainly because it’s definitely in the realm of possible! Nothing supernatural, just plain old evil people."
18
“Halloween 1978. Music, pacing, tension, actually letting the violence exist more in your imagination.”
