I always thought that palm trees were on the lighter side mostly because they really do not root that deep. I was waaaaaaaaaayyyyyyy wrong. When I lived in ft lauderdale fl going thru 4 years of the most hurricanes in 50 years...anyway my buddy had a tree go down and it cut right thru a sturdy wooden fence like a warm knife thru butter. Most of the tree was in the yard next door so we had to cut it up and move it. Damn those suckers are dense and heavy!!!! a two foot piece with a diameter of about 8 inches was HEAVY!! I have never felt anything like it. I am no stranger to chopping wood for fires. I grew up on a wooded yard and spent a lot of time in the woods as a kid and nothing I ever chopped or lifted could match the weight of a palm tree.
