While I don't think we need to stop eating meat, I do believe we could be better stewards of our environments.

There's nothing fanatic about it. Replace these animals with human babies. Maybe then you will feel different.
Fact of the matter is, these animals have the same emotions, fears, starvation and pain as human beings. It's terrible that people shrug off animals like this.
No offense, but you sound like the of person that would leave your dog outside in 10F degrees for the night and think it's OK, because he was barking for 5 minutes at the dinner table, as if to teach it a lesson or something.
Just because animals can't speak doesn't mean they can't feel.

You can ony stop the killing of endangered animals by stopping the market for it. That will never happen. Why will someone pay $450,000 for a white truffle, $650,000 for a blue fin tuna? You don't hear designers using rare pelts and reptile skins for their rich clients because it's not news you are privy to.
The "farming" of endangered species is the best we can hope for. You can't have entire species living in captivity. Even panda efforts are to return them to the wild. You protect yet "rob" that species if it cannot be in it's natural state.

I believe people would fully understand these points of view, if for say, there was open season on people and there's a chance that governments say we're too populated and for a fee, you could get a license to help "thin" out the population, so that animals may have a chance to eat your carcass or wear you skin as a helmet. Around here, we HAVE to harvest deer and wild animals because of over population, but it doesn't make it morally right. Wildlife should be respected as they respect us. amiright?

,....I believe everyone is entitled to their opinion and I never intend to suppress any ones...my "opinion" was generalized....you have chosen to make it personal
I'm not going to get into some kind of duel w/you on here.
I like this site and look forward to coming here and reading the comments and "opinions" of others from around the globe.
If my comments offended you....too bad. I am not offended , only curious how you could come to such a conclusion about me having only read a small quick text.
perhaps it speaks volumes about your short comings as a human being compared to mine....I'm sure you have your good points.
having said that....I believe you should take a nice long walk on a short pier.

I am an omnivore, and that will not change, but I also do not agree taking more than you need. And a fur coat in most of the U.S. is not something that I would classify as a need.

It's called the circle of life, or haven't you ever heard of that? Our bodies were NOT designed to survive on vegitation alone. That's why people who only eat veggies and such need to be very careful and take extra vitamins.
I will not stop eating meat, and I only eat what I need. And I would never condone testing of medicines and beauty products on animals

I never said anything about eating meat...
I'm talking about stuff like abusing animals, fur trade, recreational hunting. Stuff like that.
Humans are OMNIVORES, that's why we have sharp teeth as well as flat teeth. We have similar teeth to dogs and different teeth than a giraffe. That I agree on, and hunting deer to feed your family is perfectly fine. But going on Sundays with your (not you specifically) redneck buddies for a hunting trip so you can put an ape's head on your wall is incredibly wrong.
Although I am a hypocrite in a way. Because I do eat McDonalds about once a month, but know the kind of animal cruelty that goes on those burger farms. Cows have their throat cut and are bled (alive) for 5 minutes or more, pigs have hooks shoved in their bungholes and dragged around until their stomachs open in half and their intestines spill all over the floor, then left to bleed out, chickens are used as chairs for the workers... It's absolutely terrible, not to mention veal. But hey, I'm not the one doing the killing. And besdies, better to eat it than have it thrown away. $5/month less isn't going to break McDonalds' bank and change their ways

I love my pet. But come on, he's got a brain the size of a golf ball... I can only stand so much "animals are people too!" before I just roll my eyes and laugh. That is not to say animal cruelty is acceptable, for it is not. I'm just saying... get a grip people. It's called a food chain. We're the top for a reason.
Also? Grenade Bird? Awesome. Or is it Birnade?
