If you haven't heard much about your favorite actor, singer, or athlete for a while, don't assume that they aren't doing anything. Celebrities these days are doing much more than just entertaining and are finding ways to expand their brands way beyond what made them famous. Some of them are investing in ventures related to what they used to do, while others have made investments in everything from tech to fashion. Let’s take a look at a few celebrities who also happen to be great at business.
1
Jessica Alba
Jessica Alba hasn't had a major blockbuster hit since "Fantastic Four", but she's been making a lot of great business moves during her downtime. Not only does she own a very successful household product company by the name of Honest Co, but she has also invested in a few tech startups such as Managed by Q. and Headscape.
She has also been rumored to be interested in acquiring a stake in Ria international money transfer, but this hasn’t been confirmed yet. We can expect Alba to continue to make ripples in the business world, and her fortune is currently estimated to be around 200 million dollars.
George Clooney
George Clooney is another actor we haven't seen in a while, but he's been very active on the business front, especially with his Casamigos tequila brand which he started with two of his closest friends. The brand slowly started to gain recognition thanks to its high quality and celebrity endorsement. He eventually sold the brand to the global spirits conglomerate Diageo for $1 billion back in 2017.
Tyra Banks
Tyra Banks has been very active on the business front as well and has done a great job at diversifying her assets after she left the runway. Tyra Banks started a venture capital firm aimed at financing female-owned and female-focused businesses named Fierce Capital. One of Tyra’s proudest investments is The Muse, which is a female-owned job search and networking platform. We don’t know how much the platform is worth right now, but it was rumored to be worth around $100 million in 2016.
Jay Z
Jay Z is known as hip hop’s first billionaire, and if you want to know how he earned the moniker, he did it through a mix of hard work, lots of mixed ventures, and business savvy. His first big venture was Armand de Brignac, a decorated champagne company he co-owns with the Cattier family. He then launched a streaming service by the name of TIDAL back in 2014 which was sold to Square CEO Jack Dorsey for $350 million. He was also an early investor in Uber and bought $2 million worth of stock which is now worth over $70 million.
So, if you’ve been asking what these celebrities have been doing with their time, there you have it. These celebrities have realized the power their brand holds, and are using their career revenues to make big moves and a name for themselves in various industries, and we can expect many others to follow suit.
