Rats that have been trained Dutch Non Governmental Organisation are able to sniff out deadly landmines. The rodents are trained to detect the TNT in landmines through behavioral psychology: a click sound to signal a food reward whenever they make the correct detection.

I heard about a Homer-Simpson-gene in rats, that makes them stupid. I guess the gene was silenced in their case. Seems like there are quite intelligent animals here.
