"Landmines. I'll tell you why:

They render large tracts of land completely unusable

They are expensive and difficult to remove safely because there is seldom documentation of where they are placed

They are cheap, plentiful, easy to place, and deadly

They kill/maim livestock and wild animals

They kill/maim innocent people decades after conflicts have ended. Many times the victims are children because they can't read or don't understand warning signs"

Whoever wrote this list sounds like a woke, cranky old person. I’d agree with maybe a few of the things listed here but most are just stupid. For instance, plastic straws still exist because they work and are useful, unlike the sh*tty paper straws that fall apart as soon as they get wet. And plastic straws don’t actually only account for an insignificant amount of the plastic in landfills, despite what you’ve heard.

Gender reveal parties exist because despite all the propaganda to the contrary, most expectant mothers believe in science and that gender exists and it’s a fun way to get people excited about the new baby on the way. It’s also helpful to know if it will be a boy or girl beforehand to help people purchase gender-specific clothing and other items (although you wouldn’t need a party to tell everyone the gender).
