From builder “pbarmasher”: In ww1, the Russians asked Britain for help. They sent a squadron of RNAS armoured cars with Navy, and Ulster (Irish) personnel. At this time, the Armoured car service was being transferred from the Navy to the Army, except for this group. They remained until the Russian Revolution, and whey were threatened with arrest.

Before shipping out, this is in Wales. The usual Armoured car was the Rolls Royce Heavy. Though more powerful, and better armoured, these got bogged down. It was observed that the little Fords scooted over and through the mud and crud. This little armoured car was designed and 9 were made. Most went to Russia, some to the Western front. They sported 6mm armour, and a Maxim Machine gun.

Made some scale drawings, based on my '18 Model T and photographs. The wheels are 30 inches, I scaled off of that.

Mocked up with foamboard.

Making the angle iron frame.

The Aluminum came! The originals used 6mm steel, I saved on weight and used Aluminum.
8
You can cut it with a circular saw! Use hearing protection.

Cut to fit. That is the engine stand for my spare 1915 engine. It is made of an old T frame.

Duct tape is your friend.
12
Putting it on the chassis.

The rear section is a weird iosynchronus curve. I used the forge to bend the irons leg in.
16

The Aluminum I ordered is T6, which is tempered and really hard to bend at home. Rather than killing myself I made the rear from wood. When I have the cash, I'll have a metal rear made for it.

Child sized. She is about the correct size for a WW1 driver.

Painted.

Lanterns.

Now for the engine.

23
My new engine! it is a '23 with a starter and generator.
24
400 miles home. I picked up a 17 gallon whisky barrel for another project… Does that count as having an open container?
25
New engine is in!

Simply AWESOME. From nothing to a WW1 Armored vehicle. -Rick
