Decades of War? Try millennia of war! The various bands of war lords have been fighting over their piece of the silk road and drug trade since time immemorial. The silk road runs right through Afghanistan, a critical path between the Orient and Occident. Alexander The Great and Genghis Kahn have been two of numerous invaders. Since the 19th century it has been in continual warfare against Britain, he USSR, the Taliban, and the the US. The US is only the last of a long list of suckers that have met their match in the high mountains of the country.
