The first ever music video was Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody, but they're not from America, so that doesn't count, I guess... 02

And they could have also included the end of the video era. MTV doesn't stand for Music Television anymore, it's a reality channel for stupid young people. It should be called Morons' TV, so they don't have to change their logo either.

Typincs,
I don't see how Queen not being from America should be the reason.. They're from Britain aswell as the Beatles..
But I agree on the Morons TV part ^^

Ah Ha I remember Dicky Do and the Dont's I think (but I'm not sure) it was Cheech and Chong ha ha ha good times. There was also (not racial) "Basketcase and the 7 jumping niggers" where they brought a black quadaplegic out in a laundry basket to the microphone on a high rise barstool to sing. Hilairious 07 Hey,,They made it up..not me 01

Just a BIT off-target.

Some music videos go back to the 1950's. (a bit BEFORE the concept of MTV).

However, for the sake of argument, singer Ricky Nelson had done a 'music video' back in 1961.

and for the record:

'Video Killed the Radio Star' is NOT the first video to be broadcast (for reasons mentioned above), however, it IS the first video to be BROADCAST ON MTV (BIG difference).
