First up, the unspoken "rules" of using a public bathroom. Most folks go straight to the most private place in the room, do a quick spot check, do some wiping/lining, and then do their thing. Sadly, nearly half of the dudes surveyed didn't even bother lifting the seat before they took a leak. And only 39% actually bothered to clean up an smears, smudges or spillage. Jesus.

The majority of people are also ok using the accessible stall/washroom in an emergency, or only if everything else was full. Then there was that 30% that figured it was ok because they needed the space. There's also a staggeringly large number of people who are ok with using up all the TP and not saying anything, not flushing, and making a mess and walking away. That's pretty shameful.

Hopefully everyone's washing their hands before leaving the bathroom.

When it comes to stall selection, most will take the farthest unoccupied stall from the door. Totally makes sense.

The study also found that there's a slight bias towards the right hand side of the row of stalls, regardless of the fact that there were the same number, and same distanced, stalls on the other side.

Ah, the thing we'll do when we're drunk and full of piss.

Now, onto the things we do in a public bathroom. A surprising 71% have been walked in on while doing their thing, and over 63% of people said they were uncomfortable with dropping a deuce.

There's also too much penis peeking at the urinals, as you can see. Probably because men are most comfortable peeing with the door open and even taking the dog for a ride, regardless of who's watching.

On the other side of the gender divide, some women are totally fine with using the sink to pee, if a stall is unavailable. Balance is key.

Now, onto the true test of bathroom etiquette. Again, most men tend to lean more towards a the right side of a row of urinals, to find an empty one.

Unless there's someone already there. Then it's whichever is the farthest unoccupied one.

While the bathroom at someone else's house isn't exactly the same as a public bathroom, some of the same hangups can apply. In fact, it sounds like a good majority of people had something embarrassing happen to them. It could be finding something they weren't supposed to, or making some loud and gross noises. Thankfully, most people are courteous enough to use air freshener when they're done, replace a used roll and clean up any messes.

Then there's the other end of the spectrum that'll have sex in someone else bathroom, clog a toilet with a condom, or judge the homeowner for various things.
