Speed up son... It's a reference to the fact that sponsors made people that wouldn't have entered the Tour de France for the sport now do it for the money.

What this spawns is a bunch of wannabes that have no business being there among the most elite athletes... Which causes accidents, just like why Lance Armstrong fell in three collisions in this year's race.
