At 70-years-old Joan MacDonald was living a typical senior citizen's life. She was "angry, frustrated, arthritic, and extremely overweight."
After seeing her own mother's health decline in a nursing home, she decided that she didn't want to go down that same path. Changes needed to be made.

Joan does have an advantage that most don't though. Her daughter, a yoga practitioner, competitive powerlifter, and professional chef encouraged and helped her throughout her fitness journey.
“I made up my mind that I could do it and I refused to quit no matter how daunting it was.”
Since begining her new fitness lifestyle Joan has lost an impressive 62 pounds and no longer takes medication.
“I am praying for the courage and grit to keep on going, to keep dreaming, and keep acting out my dreams for a better quality of living.”
