62-ft long King of Kings statue of Jesus (19 m) was located at the Solid Rock Church near Monroe, Ohio.
On June 14, 2010 the statue was apparently struck by lightning, and suffered major damage in the resulting blaze. The statue was sculpted using a thin skin of fiberglass over a flammable styrofoam interior stabilized by a metal frame, and the fire left only its internal metal structure.
Following the fire, the pastor of the church stated that they plan to have the statue rebuilt.

This statue was put up in 2006 I believe at a cost of $250,000. They're going to build it again for probably the same amount. What an utter waste of money, there are thousands of great charitable causes that could do so much good with that sort of money.

Plus, when lightning strikes something and burns it down it's considered an act of God. Clue here, if the God you believe in destroys your statue then you should consider it a hint that you shouldn't have built the statue.

Plus (2) it's (was) HIDEOUS!!!

You are right (Above comments). An act of God destroys it, Think he may want them to use that money to help the less forunate, do not re-build it, help others instead!

I live like, five minutes away from what used to be Big Butter Jesus, and I really hope they don't rebuild it. The family that made the church lives right across the street on a farm, and they built that statue and the church out of drug money. The son of the family would smuggle cocaine in the horses, and they all ended up dying. So in order to not go to prison, and get rid of the money, they built the church and the statue. The church is a fucking cult and I hope it burns down too.
