It's not like the British guard is comprised of hundreds of thousands of people. PETA never heard of tradition? Maybe they should go after eskimos for hunting seal and usiing their fur. PETA is a self-serving publicity machine, that's why they have people like Pam Anderson as a spokes-person.

And look at the state of those fake bearskin hats, they look like shit. Kinda shooting themselves in the foot there by not proving fake fur can look as good as real. Oh I forgot, naked chicks make for a far more believable campaign 41

I can't stand PETA, bunch of idiots. Although I do enjoy it when they campaign using virtually naked women. :)

The MOD have been trying to find a worthy artificial replacement, but nothing has been found. Until then the bearskins stay.

The Eskimos hunt seals for survival, it's not like they grow a lot of vegetables
on the ice cap. The British guard caps on the other hand serve only a ceremonial purpose, and can easily be replaced by a more cheep and bear friendly cap. British guards never head of progress?!

The reason why PETA has people like Pamela Anderson as a spokes-person is that almost nobody gives a shit about something anymore, unless big boobs are involved! Let's face it, this post wouldn't be on AcidCow if there weren't boobs involved!

It seems you want to interject your point for the sake of argument...

My point with eskimos is that PETA cannot become it's own hippocrite by selecting which cause it chooses to protest. Pamela Anderson is famous for her battle with KFC. Whether you agree or not, KFC provides a means for a person to feed themselves in society. Granted, it is one of many choices, but food is an essential industry. So how much different is it from eskimos killing seals for food and clothing?

The point of ceremony is to PRESERVE tradition. I find it strange that such a simple concept escapes you.
