Cinema has always pushed boundaries, but some films take creativity to new—and sometimes strange—heights. Despite their unconventional plots or eccentric execution, these movies carved out cult followings and left lasting impressions. Explore why audiences embraced the weirdness and fell in love anyway.
"Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: The Secret of The Ooze.
I loved it as a kid, and I love it now. It’s not as good of a movie as the original but it’s far more quotable, it’s got loads of action and slapstick hijinx fighting. Tons of great Jim Henson costumes with animatronics, and I even like the cheesy Vanilla Ice dance number at the end. It’s stupid and goofy, nerfs their ninja weapons, and has a shameless pop-music tie-in, but damn, if I don’t love it."

"Grease 2."

"Scary movie."

"Batman Forever
The Riddler has always been my favorite Bat-villain, and I just really enjoy the movie’s neon-over-black aesthetic."

"The Room. Best unintentional comedy on the planet. Hands down."
"I saw a license plate in the wild a couple weeks ago that was just “OHI MRK” and I busted out laughing. Best custom plate I’ve ever seen."

"Is Van Helsing considered awful? I never see it spoken of, but I love it."

"Are Con Air or The Rock considered awful movies?
The Cageier a Nic Cage movie is, the more I love it."

"Nothing But Trouble"

"Blades of Glory & Walk Hard"

"Well ‘Hook’ has a 52% on Metacritic so I guess that counts. "

"Joe Dirt"

"White Chicks. It’s so stupid but it turns my brain off"
"It is ridiculous & yet absolutely hilarious"

"Bubba Ho-tep, starring Bruce Campbell as Elvis, and his friend JFK played by Ossie Davis, in a nursing home. Using their wiles to somehow defeat an ancient mummy that has (accidentally) arrived to s**k the remaining life out of the old people. It’s a cult classic, reviews were only like, 6.5/10 at best."

"The original Super Mario Bros. movie. I love it an unnecessary amount."

"Ace Ventura When Nature Calls"

"The 1984 David Lynch version of Dune. It’s such a moody f***ing nightmare. I love it."

"CRITTERS. It’s so, so terrible. The special effects include people literally throwing the critters across the screen to show them moving lol. Also has a young, gorgeous Billy Zane, so there’s that"

"Hackers.
“It’s got a 28.8 kbps modem!”"

"The Master of Disguise. it’s God-awful but so good."
"Am I not turtle-y enough for the turtle club?"

"Demolition Man is a classic"
