German man Leonard Speer bought a new Mercedes-Benz 240D series W123 in 1985, then he let it sit for 30 years. Due to the fact that he didn't use it, 30 years later the car is still in perfect condition with only 30 km on the odometer. The car may be 30 years old, but it's practically brand new because he hasn't used it.

Kind of interesting to see what would have passed for "luxury" in 1985 compared to today. Today the features I see on that car would be considered so basic as to be unheard of (roll-down windows?!).

Not all Merc's are luxury cars. Back in the 80's you were much more likely to see one as a taxi here in the UK. They were expensive but that was down to the build quality not any great luxury. Here you are just as likely to see that three pointed star on a commercial vehicle as a car.

Why would you buy a car and not use it?
