The X5 is a piece of shit, be even though, it must have been destroyed for another reason, not just because it came to the end of its life. Loads of spare parts on it for other cars.

Depends on when it was crushed.
If it was in 2009, it might have been done as part of the ill-fated 'Cash for Clunkers' program.
You weren't allowed to use any of the good parts from the vehicle.
Everything had to be destroyed.

I think it had something to do with illegal smuggeling, the car was working order. Can't recall what country.

Wouldn't you give it to the fire department to practice cutting people out of cars?
Most of the ones they use are old clangers ... at least they could practice on newer models

It was flooded and since the insurance company paid the compensation to the dealership - the car was taken and needed to be destroyed. Other than that - it's not beautiful at all...

they dont crush floodes cars, they sell them to resellers. I was in a hurricane in '88 (Hugo, Charleston, SC) and Katrina, (Biloxi, MS '05) Even after insurance wrote them off, tons of cars were sold to resellers to refit, scrap parts and so on. Hell, did you even see the rims on that vehicle? Those are not cheap tires or rims....

treeman22tyger,

I'm glad you were happy with your car. However, when I wanted a sports car I brought a MX5, small and agile (I'm not a millionaire so cant afford a Ferrari) When I wanted an off roader, I brought a Land Rover.

Made by a sports car company, it was neither sporty as it was too high, nor good off road. due to its lack of low gear range, diff lock and "Sports" tyres. Any off road capabilities it had were electronics stolen from Land Rover, while BMW owned the company for a short while.

BMW X5
As with all the models in our list of used cars to avoid, BMW
