Gawd! Do I feel olde (lol) I remeber when "muscle car" meant Big Assed V8 crammed into a small engine bay, 425 plus horsepower ( from the factory) and the abilily to turn a lot of gas into equal amounts of smoke, thunder and a thick layer of rear ( notice I said rear) tire deposited onto the asphalt while hurtling down a straight road at ridiculous speeds. The only handling we needed was to be able to turn right into the pit lane at the end of the strip.lolol Oh, and also scare the crap out of anything with a 4 cylinder engine.....lmao

What's a Viper GTS or ZR1 then? That's a muscle car by any definition anyone would care to use.

These are all very capable cars but muscle cars they are not.
Jimmy, there weren't any Vipers or Vettes in that group of pics. I do consider the Viper to be a muscle car and the Vette is turning into a super car little by little.

That RX7 is pushing the definition... With that turbo setup, I'll bet it's in the 750+ hp range. And the R34 Skylines don't take much to get into the 900 hp range. The GTRs are capable of 1500 hp. No one would consider a built third gen Supra as anything but a muscle car.
I pilot a 93 300zx twin turbo stage 14+. It's classified as a "GT", but I only see a muscle car.
My definition of "muscle car" is horsepower, not the era in which it was built. A "tuner car" is made for looks, has a light chassis, and has less than 400 hp, due to lighter drive trains, (front wheel drive, smaller transmissions, etc). A "super car" is defined by how much you spent.

Jimmy, I get why you think muscle cars are anything with lots of power but in the car world everyone will agree with me.
