As you may know, Times Square is now officially a pedestrian-only zone and it will be massively overhauled in 2012. But before that NYC Department of Transportation decided to “refresh and revive” the streetscape and accepted 150 design submissions to revamp Times Square. Molly Dilworth was recently awarded the first prize for her proposal “Cool Water, Hot Island”. Her design is a graphical representation of NASA’s infrared satellite data of Manhattan, and looks like a blue river flowing down Broadway.
I don't know why anybody would do something like this. She was a cute girl with a pretty face. Now she has silicone lips and looks kind of scary. Take a look.
This amazing Star Trek sculpture can be seen in Microsoft’s Studio D offices in Redmond, Washington. It's called Mirror Universe and was created by Devorah Sperber. The sculpture is based on the 1967 episode Mirror, Mirror, in which the crew encountered their evil counterparts from a parallel universe. Simply amazing.
