I have seen dogs smile before, and I don't think it is a smile.

i am not so sure its fear of being hit. the dog holds his posture...when a dog has been abused and he thinks he is going to be hit again .. his head lowers and turns away in submission.. or starts to show teeth growl and lean forward if he is a fighter instead of a fright or flee personality. I hope to God he is not being abused. When ever I see an animal afraid in pain scared or abused it goes right thru me and breaks my heart. I Litterally cannot handle abuse of animals. I go after people in the park if I see them abusing their animal.. I mean it I can't handle it!!! something just snaps inside me and after I calm down I get physically sick.

I know i sound like an asshole to most of you that read my comments and that is no big deal. This is just place for all of us to get a little rude every now and then to relieve some stress. bUT I am as serious as a heart attack when I say that I will never be able to accept walk or look away from an animal that is being abused!!
