Groundhog Day is February 2. The superstition says that the groundhog comes out of his burrow on that day, and if he sees his shadow, it portends 6 more weeks of winter. If he does not see his shadow, it means there will only be 2 more weeks of winter.

There may be a bit of truth in that if he sees his shadow, it means the sky is clear. This indicates a high pressure system which usually means the weather is dominated by cold arctic air. :05:

he is lucky the only thing the groundhog did was bite him...yank me out of my home into the cold morning and bet a whole lot more happens...

Groundhog Day sucks. It's fuckin' 2015 and we are still looking at a fucking large rat for weather forecasts :54:
