Always be aware of your surroundings. At least she was just standing there, and didn't just jump out.

I had a girl jump in front of my car one night on the way home from work, and I hit the brakes so hard it snapped the exhaust off at the downpipe. She was absolutely pissed, and in the middle of nowhere. Bizarre!
