This film shows the terrifying images captured by the Russian filmmaker Vladimir Shevchenko on scene at Chernobyl those dreadful days in April 1986. Shevchenko later died suffering from the radiation he exposed himself to. Sadly, his name is not among the official casualties of the accident.

How could they manage to obtain energy from radioactive particles and not knowing the risks of the radiation to the human body?
How could they build such a plant without knowing the dangers and consequences of it?
How could they not train instruct people in case something like that happened?

Poor people that relied their lives on them. :(

And by the way:,
I hate this player! We cannot pause on a scene without that screen or play sign in the middle nor go to a specific time we want (that's awful in relatively long videos).

1edson,
consequences were not important to Soviet countries. Sad but true. There was no such thing at Healt and Safety at work. And I assume that people were proud of the plant, that's how the propaganda worked.

Yet it's amazing that Iran's new reactors are built by Russian Reactor Companies because Iran doesn't have the technology to build and maintain reactors....Like Russia does?

@1edson maybe they knew, but they didnt tell anyone? Its terrible, but if the people knew about whats going to happen to them, noone would wanted to go there, noone was going to seal the plant and there would be at least 100 times more victims, than the 500 000, who died sealing the reactor.
@joffenbaker right now Russia is the biggest manufacturer of nuclear reactors, and they are more than safe, ofcourse when properly operated. The tragedy in Chernobyl happened mostly not because of design flaw or poor build quality, but because of human stupidity. Actually they had several safety procedures for the reactor, but the man in charge wanted to finish everything quickly and made fatal error which caused the reactor to explode. You should check the movie Discovery Channel made about Chernobyl to understand what and why happened in Chernobyl.

What's impressive is that they let anybody come nearby the site ....and everybody would die anyway . Propaganda? Non-information may come to a point where you have to ask yourself ...why .
