A perfect example of why math is not the universal language. Where math fails, life begins.

1 + 1 = 2? This is the simplest equation.

Take any two molecules and measure them with any system you prefer. You will find those two molecules will never be equal to another two molecules... Ever... Through size, displacement, shape, density, age, or any other measurement.

That's why no two snowflakes are alike. That's why a smaller person plus another larger person is two people, not one and a half persons.

Err, that's simple. When the pieces are re-arranged they don't fit together quite prefectly. The gaps between them is the same as the original gap in the middle.

@Jimmy Johnson, what are you smoking?

Slugsie - Math is theoretical. It only exists as an idea. That's why engineers design bridges and any span to support 20% more wieght than the math says it can hold.

What I find curious is just how simple 1 + 1 = 2 is as an equation. Yet it cannot be supported in the three dimensional world. 1 + 1 will never equal two past the theory.

For the down voters, go ask your teacher or college professor if you think that is so full of shit.

It's an old trick. The big square is actually a trapeze. The upper and lower lines are not parallel.
