Nice piece of propaganda. Hiding the starving people and the poverty and the concentration camps.

Hoping Un isn't stupid enough to launch at South Korea or Japan...

The 105 story Ryugyong Hotel (63,64,and 65) has been under construction since 1987 and completed in 2013 but it is still not occupied. Rather than a landmark of progress in Pyongyang, it has been a eyesore and incredible draw on the coffers of the government and the people, more a symbol of mismanagement than progress.

:51: I wonder if most of those places are staged, I mean, the government telling the people: go to the park, and smile at the tourists and pretend everything is ok like this is our real life. or maybe I'm wrong, and thats their daily basis. :51:

I agree: North Korea is teh best Korea ;-)

Let's see what Sid Meiers Civilizations has to say about communism [excerpts from strategy guides mainly from gamefaqs.com]:

Civilisation I:Same as Monarchy, but the corruption level is "flattened." Normally corruption rises as the distance to the capitol increases, so in large empires, you can go to communism and have it all averaged out. Everyone gets the same level of corruption no matter what. This is great if you've got the palace in the center of the map and most of the empire is out on the fringe.

Civilisation II: One main difference between this government and the others I listed before it is that all spies automatically become veterans. Some people might say so what? Well, spies that are veterans have a much better chance at doing their job successfully. You can also set your max % for Tax\Luxury\Science up to 80%. Also, for some reason, your citizens seem to not revolt as much when you have military units away.

Civilisation III: Late game gov for large civs (3 city cores) that have corruption problems in far away potentially big cities.Good for extended wars because there's no WW and good unit support. Also, you can whip foreign people in newly conquered cities to prevent revolts. Able to build the Secret Police HQ.

Civilisation IV: "When I give food to the poor, they call me a saint. When I ask why the poor have no food, they call me a communist." - Dom Helder Camara
Effects: Can Train Spy, Enables Permanent Alliance, Enables State Property, Can Build Scotland Yard, The Kremlin

Civilisation V: Communism is probably the most valuable since it gives a massive production boost to every city in your empire. The production boost to all buildings is also a very welcome addition. Though mostly a production-oriented policy, Order has a wide range of applications in many strategies.

Civilisation Revolutions: Communism is a form of government that promotes the establishment of a classless, stateless society based on common ownership of the means of production. The dominant forms of communism, such as Leninism, Stalinism, Maoism, and Trotskyism are based on Marxism. The predominant communist state in history was the Soviet Union, in which religion was suppressed.

Sorry for a lenghty post.

Yes, it is clean but we all know NK is only showing what they want people to see. Maybe the media are wrong and NK is a really nice country where everyone is happy, but I highly doubt it. I was always told that NK had a lot of poverty. If this wasn't staged, why are there so few people on the streets?

Ano,
And how is that different to a US mashall on an airplane. At least the guy on the bus isnt undercover.

yonnahali,
NK has a lot of poverty because of all the trade sanctions the UN placed on it.

shade,
Funny, thats what I thought when I went to America

No1,
Concentration Camps? Like Guantanamo Bay which Obama said hed close down? Thats not in NK. Starving people because UN sanctions forbid the import of foods? Not NK fault.

I find this looks like every other country in the world, but the media always needs a 'bad guy'. He hasnt invaded any countries in the last 30 years and killed millions of innocents, has he? Why is he not allowed nukes when Russia, America, India, UK, Pakistan, China, France and Israel all have them?

Also, remember that the UN is not a democracy, it is ruled by 5 countries alone.
