And he spent only $730 to build it.
And it still doesn't work.

Those design plans are quite accurate!

I don't think he's failed here, and the plane does work, unlike the suggestion above.

He built a plane, and it flies.

The landing is purely the afterthought, the bit at the end. Plus it doesn't say here whether he crashed due to poor design, wind or lack of experience.
