Dutch artist Henk Hofstra created this amazing project in 2007.
Blue Road is 1000 meters long and 8 meters wide.
It was created to form an urban river and recreate the path of a waterway that used to be where the road currently runs.

It must be confusing to drive on this kind of road... I wouldn't dare to cross the street if I would wear blue clothes!

this is an artwork created bu Henk Hofstra.
What is painted blue, will become a canal (drachtstervaart) in the near future. Drachten had a canal there once, but in the 60's it was an old smelly place, and so they decided to build a road instead. 40 years later, the town had enough of the cars and wanted the canal back. In a stroke of luck, they combined it with another project, so it won't cost the taxpayer a lot.
I follw acidcow now for years, but this is the first times I see one of the projects I worked on here :) fun!
