In the Chinese city of Xi'an, on a bridge, a 60-year-old woman was seen begging for money. Someone instead decided to give her food, and she instead threw it away so that she could convince people to give her more money.

It's just like this in Sweden, in the little town of just 10k persons. There are roughly 2 or 3 beggars here, changing after 3-6 months so new faces turns up, and they do not accept food.

Bought an apple and some water for one, the beggar simply just threw it away, telling me to give him money and not food. When I asked how he filled his belly beggar told me it was none of concern to me. Just give him money and everything was good.

Needless to say, I am trying to inform everyone giving them money to stop and instead give them food. 07

A lot of beggars make more than the minimum wage, some even close to the medium.

This happened to me in Indianapolis about 20 years ago when I was there on a business trip. This 50 year-oldish guy approaches me on the street, says he hasn't eaten in two days, and asks if I have a dollar so he can buy some food. I told him I didn't have a one dollar bill (which was true), but I'd help him out in a minute after I got some change from my lunch. I did feel bad, and I was young and gullible enough to believe him.
So I went inside the Wendy's and bought TWO meals to go, one for me and one for him. I thought I was doing a good deed that would be appreciated until I handed him the bag of food and the drink. He just stared at me with an annoyed face and said, "Okay... so do you have that dollar?"
I said something like "Seriously? You just said you were hungry. Fine, I'll take it back if you don't want it", but he said no, he'll take it, but "I didn't ask for food, I asked for a dollar".
And that was it for me- he ruined it for any future street beggars.
