You're obviously quite the art critic there shimaa. I notice your friend can draw better than the artist on the other posting today also. Please note - the CAPS LOCK button has an ON and an off setting.

Anyway, although you can't see the placing on the first picture, I think it looks like Hastings seafront looking toward the east, whereas the Hastings yacht launch is looking toward the west and is further along the beach. Nice pics of Maidstone and Deal too, all local for me.

I don't care if they're photos or paintings, they are a beautiful snapshot of a time long gone. Before the internet.....

These are actually colourised postcards, which were very popular in Victorian times. Shimaa you don't know what you're talking about.

Some of these are definitely pictures, you can tell by the long exposures with the affects of the movement of the water in the waterfalls. Also, colour pictures were just starting to be taken at this time so i'm not surprised by them. The one's of people are pretty much all paintings, you can tell the one black and white of people has to be a very short exposure to get the results it does and film technology just hasn't gotten good enough to give a great quality shot at such short exposure lengths.

Postcards, often based on painted photographs which were poor quality at the time. Only way to mass produce them. I have some of these postcards. Pleased to see them reproduced here to remind people how Edwardian Britain looked.
